Accelerated Pathway Applications for 2025
Students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne seeking entry into the Accelerated Pathway (Veterinary Biosciences major) in 2025 must apply for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 2026 Start year intake during the specified period.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (or Bachelor of Biomedicine) at the University of Melbourne who are enrolled and on track to complete VETS20019 Frontiers in Veterinary Science in Semester 1, 2024 will be contacted by the University about the application process for entry into the Accelerated Pathway (Veterinary Biosciences major).
Graduate Entry Applications (Normal Entry)
Once the application is submitted, applicants will have until Thursday, 2 January 2025 to upload their final academic transcripts and evidence of course completion (official copies) to the application portal. This includes all study for which credit has been granted, including exchange/study abroad study. Applicants who fail to upload final documents by the deadline specified will be sent an unsuccessful outcome, no exceptions. We cannot allocate places based on incomplete applications.
CASPer® Situational Judgement Test
All applicants seeking entry to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or the Bachelor of Science Accelerated Pathway in 2025 must undertake an approved Situational Judgement Test (SJT).
You must be registered for one of the following test times at least three days prior to the test date.
- Thursday 6 June 2024 - 7pm AEST
- Sunday 23 June 2024 - 10am AEST
- Thursday 8 August 2024 - 7pm AEST
- Friday 13 September 2024 - 10am AEST
- Sunday 13 October 2024 - 10am AEDT
- Sunday 24 November 2024 - 10am AEDT
The approved Casper test type for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine is AUS/NZ Postgraduate Health Sciences 2024-2025. You can find a link to test dates online available at https://my.acuityinsights.app/dates-times/.
Deferral Requests
Please apply for the intake you are ready to commence studying. Due to the limited number of places available, we do not permit deferral. Students who wish to defer their offer will need to re-apply for admission to a future intake.
There are a limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) for this course. To ensure you are considered for a CSP, submit your complete application prior to the application deadline.

- Consider whether you are eligible for Graduate Access Melbourne.
- If you are applying for multiple courses, ensure you have confirmed your preference order.
2. Gather your supporting documentation
As part of your application, you’ll be required to submit:
- Transcripts and detailed information related to all previous studies you have undertaken and/or completed, including an explanation of the grading system used and official certified English translation of any document that is not written in English. - Evidence of meeting the University's English language requirements.
- An official syllabus or subject description (in English) for completed subjects you believe satisfy the course prerequisites.
- A personal statement of 500 words, outlining relevant work experience, additional qualifications, and personal achievements.

Additional application considerations:
Where a course offers both Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) and Australian full fee (AF) places, you only need to submit an application for one fee type. You will automatically be considered for a CSP if you are eligible.

- All communications related to your application, including requests for additional information and application outcomes, will be sent to the email address you registered for your application. To avoid delays, please upload requested information as soon as possible.
