Strategy in a Disruptive Environment

This micro-credential is ideal for mid to late-career ICT professionals seeking to advance their career or future-proof their skillsets. You may be working in ICT, a government agency (at federal, state or local level), consulting, mining or higher education.

To be eligible for this micro-credential, you must have:

• An undergraduate degree in an any discipline, and five years of experience in IT-related work

or

• At least eight years of experience in IT-related work.

This micro-credential is designed in close consultation with industry and leverages best practices, especially in relation to information systems strategy and disruptive technologies. Learning tasks have been designed to go beyond theory and enable you to apply your newfound practical skills and assessment task outcomes to your own professional context.

By the end of this course, you'll have a better understanding of how to approach and apply information systems strategic planning. You'll be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of key concepts underpinning information systems strategic planning
• Apply concepts and synthesise into an Information Systems Strategy Proposal
• Develop an Information Systems strategic response to a threat or opportunity faced in an organisational context.

This course runs over four weeks, including one pre-teaching week, two weeks of teaching and one week for assessment.

Your total time commitment is approximately 42 hours, which includes:

• 8 hours guided online learning
• 13 hours self-guided study
• 21 hours assessment tasks.

Assessment includes:

• Information Systems Strategy: develop a strategic response to a disruptive technology of your choice, ideally drawn from your own professional context (100%).

Once you've successfully completed this course, you will be awarded your Strategy in a Disruptive Environment micro-credential. This digital certificate will warrant the achievement of knowledge, skills and capabilities outlined in the learning outcomes. It may also include artefacts (such as videos and written material) related to both experiential and work-integrated learning, including translatable assessment that is practical to your professional life. You can also share your micro-credential digitally and via social media by adding it to your personal platforms, such as LinkedIn. See example certificate.

Strategy in a Disruptive Environment can be taken as a stand-alone course, or complemented with any other micro-credential in the Leveraging Organisational Data series to deepen your knowledge and skills.

It offers a pathway, otherwise known as advanced standing, into the Master of Information Sytems. To use it this way, you need to complete all four micro-credentials in the Leveraging Organisational Data series, then apply for credit towards the master's.
